Due to the lack of participation from folks across the state, the Student Senate Council has voted unanimously to cancel the upcoming Advocacy in April event this Thursday, April 21st.  As of April 15th, 2016, less than 10 people had signed up for the event.

As a former member of the Common Assessment Initiative Steering Committee, I am proud to announce that the first pilot colleges have begun using the common assessment. Soon I hope to see the system-wide assessment so all California Community Colleges students are evaluated equally upon entrance into the System.

The Student Senate for California Community Colleges has extended its deadline to apply for scholarships for the 2016 Spring General Assembly. The Scholarships waive the registration fees of one Delegate and one Non-Delegate attendee.

The Student Senate for California Community Colleges is beginning the process of looking for the next student member on the California Student Aid Commission. I highly encourage all interested student leaders to apply for this highly prestigious positions!

Timeline
  • March 29th: Application Process Opens & 1st Email Announcement
  • April 5th: 2nd Email Announcement
  • April 15th: 3rd Email Announcement
  • April 21st & 22nd: 4th Email Announcement, 5th Email Announcement & 24 Hour Notice
  • April 23rd: Applications are Due to the President and Vice President of Governance &  Policy
  • April 24th - 26th: The Executive Committee Shall Review the Application & Forward No Less Than Three to the Student Senate Council
  • April 27th: Applicants Will Be Updated On Their Status
  • April 28th: The Student Senate Council Shall Forward Their Final Recommendations to the Governor's Appointments Division
