"Serving on the California Community Colleges Board of Governors was a tremendously rewarding experience for me. I greatly appreciate the Student Senate and Governor’s Office for giving me this opportunity to be a part of something so much bigger than myself, and to once more give back to this educational system that I love so much. To be one only two student voices weighing in on countless issues affecting the entire student population was such a
great honor and responsibility. I highly encourage all student leaders to apply, and continue providing strong leadership at a time when it is so very important." - Andrew J. Campbell

March in March - Canceled

2/19/2016

A Message From Gerson A. Liahut-Sánchez, Chair of the March in March Taskforce:

Dear Student Leaders & Interested Parties,

It is to my displeasure to announce the cancellation of this year's March in March. Since the creation of the March in March Taskforce in early December, organizing the March in March has been an uphill battle due to time constraints and limited resources. We have faced several roadblocks that continually impeded the Student Senate from holding this event for our beloved students; the main issue pertaining to insufficient funding, to which this event would approximately cost $12,000.00 to sustain. This hefty price tag accounts for all the required permits, as stated in the Fall 2015 General Assembly March in March resolution, and additional amenities to host a successful event. All senators were tasked with informing their regions, as well as local student governments, of the possibility of said cancellation and the urgency of donations. Unfortunately, time is up and the required permits are no longer within our reach. We understand the frustration this may have caused.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at gerson.liahut@studentsenateccc.org for any further questions or concerns.
